Where to Elope in Texas

Wedding trends have changed dramatically within the last few years. Elopements are increasing in popularity for couples that are wanting to keep things simple, easy, and affordable. Maybe you don’t want a big venue or a big guest count. Eloping might be the right fit for you.

It’s no secret that a lot of people don’t associate Texas with elopements. But I’m here to tell you that there are plenty of hidden gems that might be the perfect match for your Pinterest boards. So before you book your plane tickets elsewhere, here are some places in Texas where you can exchange vows in style!

1910 Harris County Courthouse

We will start with the simple and classic route if you want to do a quick and painless elopement! The downtown courthouse vibe might be the perfect fit for you and your partner. The 1910 Harris County Courthouse in Houston is a popular courthouse venue that has many great photo ops for indoor and outdoor settings. You can also if you choose afterwards to get some city skyline or street view shots for your wedding album.

Lake Houston Wilderness Park

If you drive further north of Houston, you will find Lake Houston. This gorgeous hidden gem has everything from A-Frame cabins to accessible lake views and forest trails. For this location, you will have to pay a small fee to get married and, if you decide to hold a small reception there is a hall you can rent for guests! If you are outdoorsy and want something unique, this is the way to go.

Enchanted Rock in Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg is a popular Texas destination for travelers and also one of the dreamiest areas Austin, TX has to offer! Known for its wineries and vineyards, it is also home to a favorite state park of mine, Enchanted Rock. While Texas doesn’t have mountain views, Austin is well known as the Hill Country. Enchanted Rock is a beautiful hike for the adventurous elopement couple. Whether you hike all the way to the top or stay at the base of the rock, you are going to get stunning photos!

Pedernales Falls State Park in Johnson City

Right outside of Johnson City is the stunning Perdenales Falls State Park. This park’s rocky landscape and river views are the perfect backdrop for your elopement. To get to the falls, you only have to hike down some paved steps to reach your destination. Also like any State Park research what permits you need and you are good to go!

Big Bend National Park in Terlingua

The farthest destination in Texas by far but the most beautiful is Big Bend National Park. If you want those mountain and desert views, this is your spot. Because of the vastness and size of the park, you definitely want to plan every detail in advance with your photographer. And you more than likely won’t have cell reception in some areas. It is about 30 minutes from the well-known Ghost Town, Terlingua, the perfect place to camp or rent an Airbnb with your partner or family.
